Because those with memory loss cannot always remember to call a staff member if they need help, we have implemented the Vigil Dementia Sensor System in Encore resident apartments. The Vigil system calls for assistance when residents are unable to do so, helping caregivers provide care when and where it is needed while minimizing unnecessary interventions. This system increases residents’ privacy and personhood while maintaining their safety through bed and room sensors which silently pages a staff member when assistance is needed
