    2.  Daughterhood Circles are small groups who get together regularly to hang out, relax, and help each other navigate caring for their aging parents.  

      Loving daughters of members at The Birches are starting this circle of support for the greater community, and those who are interested in developing this circle of support are welcomed to join us!  At this time circles are meeting here at The Birches but meeting times/places may change depending on the groups' preferences (website will always reflect current location).

    2.  A Discussion of Advanced Directives- What Families Need to Know
       Dr. Ahmed Nazimuddin & Rachael Telleen

      Dr. Nazimuddin, visiting physician from Midwest Geriatrics, and Rachael Telleen, a member of the POLST Executive Team, will discuss advanced directives in depth. They will detail the POLST (Practitioner Orders for Life Sustaining Treatment), which replaced the DNR (Do Not Resuscitate) order a few years ago. They will also discuss the powers and limits of Power of Attorney (POA) documents.

    2.  How to Best Spend the Holidays with a Person with Dementia- Dan Kuhn, LCSW

      Dan Kuhn, a social worker and renowned dementia expert, will discuss how a person living with dementia (PWD) experiences the holiday season differently. He will confront common myths about what the holiday season should look like. He will also discuss tactics for making the holiday season more pleasant and comfortable for your loved one with dementia, which will ultimately make it less stressful for the whole family!
