No new cases from our weekly testing the last three weeks!

We are happy to announce that there have been no new cases from our weekly testing in the last three weeks! Keep up the great work as we continue to navigate this on a daily basis.

The residents and team members will be happy to know that weekly testing does not continue from here unless we have another confirmed concern. We will keep you posted if this happens.

Starting tomorrow, we lift our visitor restriction that requires "no more than two visitors at a time." This means visitors ages five and older can visit resident apartments as you'd like. We still don't encourage many people in one space, and masks are still required. We updated our Visitation Fact Sheet for you to reference.

Physician Appointments at Birches:

This week, a few questions came up about our Physician rounds here at The Birches that I wanted to share with the group. When we book Physician Appointments here for Dr. Nazimuddin, we ask visitors that wish to participate to get here and be ready by 11 a.m. Tuesdays/Fridays (please let our nurses know if you are coming). However, there are no specific appointment times. Just like you would in a physician's office, think of the appointment as a "waiting room." The doctor makes his rounds based on emergencies first and will catch everyone between 11-12 p.m.

Assisted Living Tax Deduction:

For those eligible, our accountant is finalizing the language regarding any Assisted Living Tax Deduction options for 2021 for you to share with your accountants. I'll forward you the information once it is finished.

Wear Red Day:

We are encouraging those visiting tomorrow to Wear Red to support Heart Health Month. Our residents will be enjoying a Mediterranean-themed lunch menu created by our culinary team!

Choose A Challenge Month:

February is our annual Choose A Challenge Month to support our personal successful aging journeys! Successful Aging Research tells us that challenging ourselves with new and complex activities is excellent for our overall wellness. As a community, we want to "age better together," and we hope you accept our Challenge to try (2) new things in each component of Successful Aging: Intellectual, Physical, Spiritual, and Social wellness so you can enhance your personal aging journey. Is there something you have always wanted to learn?

Speaking of welcoming new challenges, I am excited to formally announce to you that my family and I are welcoming Baby Sander #2 next month. I have every confidence in the team we have in place today, so operations will continue to go smoothly for all of our members while I enhance my Successful Aging journey too.

Thank you for your confidence in our community. We love what we do, and we're privileged to have your support. I'll continue to send updates as they come. Have a great weekend!
