A new take on ice cream socials.
“We scoop. You Sprinkle”
One of our resident came up with this idea. Instead of having the same ice cream social with the same flavors, we decided to get flavors that are rarely served in the dining room, like raspberry chocolate and Moosetracks, and buy fun toppings.
The residents help pick new flavors each month. The Birches Assisted Living and Memory Care staff help scoop the ice cream into a cone or cup, and residents choose and add their toppings: Strawberries, bananas, nuts, whip cream, cherries, sprinkles, M&Ms, granola, etc., at a different table.
Sometimes we include trivia or music or reminisce about times we all ate ice cream… whatever the topic, we have smiles, laughs, and happy tastebuds!
